Temple VOAD Workgroups

Media Access Project (MAP)

The Media Access Project workgroup will comprise of students, staff, faculty and media design and development professionals that are interested in designing, developing and advocating accessible media and communications for all people.

The two primary "guideposts" for this project will be Section 508 of the Rehabilitiation Act (www.link goes HERE)and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines of the World Wide Web Consortium (www.w3c.org).

The MAP group will require members with a variety of backgrounds and skill levels. Some if these areas will be web design, web developement(backend/server/datatbase), graphic design(print & wec), sound and audio specialists/engineers, videographers/editors, photographers, directors, actors etc.

One of the goals of the MAP group will be to produce accessible emergency preparedness media in variety of formats ranging from print to podcasts.

So if would like to volunteer your skills that will impact the lives of people in our community come join that Temple VOAD and the MAP workgroup.

Translator Acccess Group (TAG)

The Translator Access Group will comprise of people with the capacity to translate various languages in both written and verbal form. This group will also include people who know American Sign Language (ASL). The TAG will work with the MAP group in producing media in multiple languages.

Barrier Access Response Team (BART)

The Barrier Access Response Team will be responsible for identifying, reporting and resolving access problems for people with disabiliities. This will consist of architectural, physical and informational access. The BART group will assist in accessibility awareness and capacity building in this area.

GIS Outreach Team (GOT)

The GIS Outreach Team will assist individuals, agencies, organizations and communities with developing their GIS capabilities regarding emergency preparedness and management. The range of project will be introductory training to data collection in the field.
