The vision of the Institute on Disabilities is that there will be a society where all people of diverse cultures and abilities are included, recognizing that all are interdependent and bring gifts and talents.
MISSION
The mission of the Institute on Disabilities is that, in partnership with people with disabilities, families and allies from diverse cultures, we work to change systems so that people can live, learn, work and play in the communities of their choice. The Institute on Disabilities is committed to supporting individuals with disabilities in their pursuit of interdependence, contribution, and inclusion. This mission is accomplished through training, technical assistance, services and supports, research, dissemination, and advocacy.

Emergency Preparedness
The mission of the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University with regard to Emergency Preparedness:
To develop and execute research, create programs, disseminate information, and deliver services and training to, with and for people with disabilities about emergency preparedness in the home, work, and community.
The Institute's Emergency Preparedness and Response program will reach out to and, collaborate with, local communities, the city of Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as well as national organizations to provide information and services to make an impact on the safety and well-being of individuals with disabilities, families and support system.
Disability Studies Program at the Institute on Disabilities
Graduate and undergraduate courses of study that explore historical, social, cultural, and political aspects of disability.
Disability Studies Lecture Series
The lecture series presents new work by recognized scholars in the field of Disability Studies.
Assistive Technology
Public awareness, information and referral, advocacy, and training to enhance access to assistive technology for all Pennsylvanians with disabilities.
